perspective

it really is all about perspective... for example, this time last year, we had only been in our new house for eleven days and it felt like our 'true' summer was just beginning. we had spent the better part of summer commuting into wilmington, house hunting in our free time, and making out-of-town trips on the weekends. then, all of a sudden it was august and we had a home and it just so happened to be 10 minutes from the beach... it felt like summer had just begun.
fast forward to today. it is the same time of year, but i've had so much 'summer' that i'm almost ready for fall! how depressing. i already feel like summer is over, for all intents and purposes.
so, i'm trying to do some self talk, reminding myself that the most beautiful beach days are waiting for us in september and october. i mean... what's better than sitting on the beach in october, listening to a radio broadcast of your favorite college team's football game?
anyway, let me try to tie this all together... if you find yourself dwelling on what 'isn't', try looking at it what 'is.' sometimes, positive thinking doesn't come naturally. you have to turn around your thoughts and see them from another point of view.
and finally, let's hope for one fine indian summer.
